  • Greetings from Shenandoah National Park

While at the park, I hiked the Stoney Man Trail to a rocky point and saw the valley below, and the blue shadows of the mountains across the valley. It was a beautiful sight. Then I found out that the trail was a part of the Appalachian Trail! WOW!

  • Greetings from Mount Rainier National Park

We just spent a night at the National Park Inn at Mount Ranier. Such a beautiful place, chock full of history, and staffed by kind and considerate people. Food beyond delicious, fireplace sitting room relaxing, porch beautiful with glorious views. Slept with the window wide open and woke to snow-covered…

Ten Reasons Why Death Valley is to Die For March 2, 2015 By Valerie Coffey Death Valley is one of America’s most “to die for” National Parks, and it’s one of my favorite places in the world. I’ve visited the park perhaps nine times in four decades. It’s a must-see…

  • Greetings from Yosemite National Park

We have visited many National Parks and tried to expose our children to as many visits as possible, from Shenandoah, the Everglades, Yosemite, Zion, and Bryce Canyon; but the story that they remember the most occurred on a visit to Yosemite, while camping in a tent cabin in the Village.…

  • Greetings from Yellowstone National Park

The longest drive our family ever took was to Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks in June of 2004. We had driven to Washington, D.C. in 2001 (1,500 miles round trip) and New York City in 2002 (1,650 miles round trip), but this was as long as both of those…

  • Greetings from Yellowstone National Park

A good book about the great Yellowstone fire of 1988 is The Fires of ’88, by Ross W. Simpson, an award winning network radio correspondent with the Mutual Broadcasting System who is used to logging (no pun intended) huge miles to cover stories all over the world. He was there…
