I first visited Canyonlands NP in 2009 with my girl scout troop and ultimately fell in love with the soaring blue sky, red landscape, and all of the beautiful scenery. I hadn’t been to the Grand Canyon at that time but to me it was just as good! We spent a bit of time there on my first trip and when I left I was determined to go back and explore more of it!
Last June I went on a road trip all the way up to Seattle and on the way there we stopped in Moab. Of course, being to Canyonlands before, I had to go again! This time I got to hike to some different places, including Mesa Arch which is featured in this picture. The friend I went with was in awe of the beauty, just like I was, and I was very happy to share that experience with her! There’s a special feeling about introducing someone to a beautiful place like Canyonlands and I’ll never forget it!
Sincerely,
Canyonlands National Park
Canyonlands National Park preserves an immense desert wilderness sculpted by the Green and Colorado rivers and featuring hundreds of colorful canyons, mesas, buttes, fins, arches and spires. The Island in the Sky District is the most accessible and popular section of the park — a mesa with spectacular views of the surrounding canyons. The Needles is a vaster territory below the Island in the Sky where visitors can hike among the sandstone spires and breathtaking rocks.

“They're one of America's greatest assets! There are so many diverse places to visit, all of them worthwhile and special to our nation's history! Without them a lot of the amazing public lands would probably be developed into private establishments, which would be very sad considering the heritage they have to offer every person, no matter what walk of life they come from. ”
