My Mom, who is in her mid-seventies, had travelled much of the world with my Dad. My Dad can no longer travel due to illness. My Mom asked my wife and I if we would like to visit a National Park each year from here on out. As an avid photographer of nature I jumped at the chance. To date we have explored Acadia, Arches, Congaree, Petrified Forest/Painted Desert, El Morro, Badlands, Mount Rushmore, Jewel Cave and Yellowstone. We look forward to our adventures every year and start planning the next one right away. More then that it is great to see my Mom still out there enjoying what matters most; our incredible natural places! She shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon!!
Sincerely,
Petroglyph National Monument
From 300 to 700 years ago, this was the homeland of the Ancestral Pueblo Indians. Long after the Ancestral Pueblo dispersed, their petroglyphs remained. Petroglyph National Monument preserves more than 20,000 examples of rock art. Most were pecked into the dark surface of basalt boulders with another stone or a rudimentary chisel.
