I went to the Ocean beach fire pits during one night with a few friends who were having a fire jam. This was the first time that I have been to the pits. It was a clear warm night, unusual for San Francisco, and many other people were enjoying the pits. I saw the area being used in many unique ways. There where Japanese fire lanterns being lit, other fire dancers and many people just enjoying the night. It was beautiful. I could see all the stars in the sky and the ocean makes it such a serene place. A fire jam is when people use flow arts such as staff, hula hoop, poi and rope dart. These can all be set on fire and used as props for dancing. There is something magical about watching the fire move and having such a beautiful scenery in the background. It was awesome to have a place to express ourselves through fire dance and enjoy the outdoors at the same time. When we got there, we picked up trash and glass from the previous users so that we would have a clean area to enjoy. When we left we took everything with us and made sure it was in pristine condition. I enjoyed the intimate ambiance that the Ocean beach fire pits create and am excited to go back in the future.
Sincerely,
