My husband and I have been to several National Parks over the last 30-40 years. So far in 2025 we have been to 4 parks. We often plan our vacations around visiting a new park each year. Each time the first thing we do is to go to the visitors center. Every time we are met with a knowledgeable enthusiastic Ranger ready to help us plan what trails and sites to see. When my children were little we would go hiking in Smoky Mountain National Park every spring break for almost 10 years. My daughter fell in love with nature and went to college studying environmental biology. After graduating she began working for the National Parks. Through her we know the Rangers life is not always an easy one but one they choose because they care. We also know the funding for the Parks is inadequate for what they need to do. And with the current situation things have become unbelievably even more disastrous. We love the Parks and the protection of our land so we have signed petitions, called our senators and marched at protests. Keep doing the great job of protecting our forests, plants, and animals and we will keep fighting for you as well. The picture was taken at Yosemite where my daughter marched at the protest earlier this year.
Sincerely,
Yosemite National Park
With its sculpted granite rock formations, towering ancient sequoia trees and spectacular waterfalls, it's no wonder Yosemite is one of the most celebrated national parks in the world.
State(s): California
Established: 1890
“We need to protect and preserve the wilderness from man’s destructiveness. Animals and plants need a place that is hands off to humans to insure their and our survival. We are all connected on this planet and if we destroy the nature around us we will ultimately destroy ourselves as well. All creatures have a purpose and a reason to exist. And we need to make sure they are protected.”
