I visited China Beach in San Francisco for the first time this spring. I went after a long hike through Land’s End, and thought I would end the day watching the sunset at China Beach. The view was spectacular, something I had never seen before. I felt like I wasn’t in San Francisco even with the Golden Gate Bridge in view. The view of the cove as the sun set was life changing. The colors of the sky, clouds and water changed with every minute and I truly felt as if I was in the most serene place on earth. #SFSU
Sincerely,
Golden Gate National Recreation Area
This recreation area encompasses more than two dozen natural, historic and cultural sites in and around the city of San Francisco. Experience the isolation of Alcatraz, America’s first “supermax” prison. Stroll beneath towering trees in Muir Woods. Walk on the beach at the Marin Headlands. Scan the horizon from the 150-year-old Point Bonita Lighthouse. Tour half a dozen operational and shuttered military facilities, including an active missile site. Hike miles of trails and enjoy unforgettable ocean views.

“P.S. I support the parks because my life was changed over the course of an hour at China Beach. I had never seen such a beautiful, ethereal place, especially with the Golden Gate Bridge to my right and the private cove to my left.”
