Celebrate the Newest National Park in Texas

You're invited to join NPCA for a ribbon cutting and establishment celebration for the newest national park site in Texas, the Blackwell School National Historic Site. Park advocates are coming together to honor the local alumni and community leaders who helped establish this new park and celebrate Marfa's rich history and culture.

Located in the west Texas town of Marfa, the Blackwell School is a national park site that tells the story of the experience of segregated education for generations of Latino communities along our country’s southern border. Officially established in July 2024 as only the second national park site dedicated to modern Latino history, the Blackwell School stands as a testament to the resiliency of the students that attended the school and their families. This new park also serves as an authentic setting to commemorate and interpret this part of our country’s history.

NPCA was proud to partner with Blackwell School alumni and the community to achieve this national park site designation and continues to uplift the stories and experiences of the school to ensure the park has a strong foundation to honor this part of modern Latino heritage, history and culture. Come join us for a day of celebration with music, entertainment and games!
