For more than 100 years, the National Parks Conservation Association has been America’s leading voice for the national parks. As an independent, non-partisan nonprofit advocacy organization, we have stood up for national parks before Congress, the White House, and the courts through nineteen Presidential administrations.
Under the last Trump administration, many of the laws that protect our public lands and the agencies that manage them faced administrative challenges and rollbacks. NPCA is preparing for similar challenges in a second Trump administration and in the 119th Congress.
To navigate these challenges and to ensure we’re prepared to act when opportunities arise, we are establishing a Park Defense Fund to enhance our capacity to defend parks. The Park Defense Fund will support existing and potential new legal cases and advocacy efforts to confront threats in Congress, administrative proceedings, state and local governments, and the court of public opinion.
Our Focus
The work focuses NPCA’s resources in four key areas where we anticipate the greatest threats to our parks that would have lasting impacts:
- Protecting Park Lands and Monuments
- Safeguarding Wildlife and Habitats
- Supporting Park Operations
- Encouraging Balanced Energy Development
Our Strategy
- Expert Staff Deployment
- Research and Analysis
- Coalition Building
- Public Education and Advocacy
- Rapid Response Capability
- Long-term Relationship Building
When you support NPCA’s Park Defense Fund, you become part of a distinguished legacy of park protection stretching back more than a century. Your gift ensures that the places that have inspired generations of Americans – from the towering cliffs of Yosemite to the deep canyons of the Southwest to the pristine waters of Acadia – remain protected for future generations.
