NPCA welcomes Helen Hernandez as a member of their Board of Trustees.
LOS ANGELES – Helen Hernandez, President and Founder of The Imagen Foundation, has been elected to the Board of Trustees of the National Parks Conservation Association (NPCA). The board is the governing body for the nonpartisan advocacy organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing our national parks.
“It’s an honor to welcome Helen to the Board of Trustees and I look forward to working with her as we continue engaging new and diverse audiences to advocate for our national parks,” said NPCA President and CEO Clark Bunting. “With the National Park System’s centennial next year, followed by NPCA’s centennial in 2019, Helen’s perceptive guidance will help us raise our profile and develop the next generation of national park advocates.”
In her role as the President and Founder of the Imagen Foundation, Hernandez also serves as the Executive Producer for the Imagen Awards, which are given to individuals who embody the best of what Hollywood can produce in portraying the image of Latinos and Latino culture. Recipients of the award include some of Hollywood’s most esteemed professionals such as Antonio Banderas, Phil Roman, Edward James Olmos, Bill Melendez, Rita Moreno, Jennifer Lopez, and Hector Elizondo.
Additionally, Hernandez is the CEO of the North American Travel Journalists Association (NATJA), an association known for creating a community of influencers in the travel media industry. NATJA is the second largest association representing travel media and destination marketing organizations, travel writers, photographers, bloggers, and radio and television personalities across the United States and Canada.
Prior to her current positions, she was the Vice President of Public Affairs for Norman Lear and Jerry Perenchio’s Embassy Communications (presently Sony Pictures Entertainment), acting as the company’s local and national liaison.
