Why Camp NPCA?

Join our week of online ‘camp’ activities as we celebrate National Park Week and the landscapes and cultural places so dear to the American public.

Every year during National Park Week, park supporters all over the country come together to celebrate our parks and how much they mean to us. This year’s occasion on April 19-27 is especially important as the National Park Service and our parks face threats unlike any before.

Hundreds of thousands of park supporters around the country have stepped up to defend our national parks and the hardworking staff members who protect them. It’s encouraging to be able to come together in the face of so many looming threats.

Summer camp evokes feelings of exploration, creating lasting memories and learning new things.

As we thought through ways to bring park supporters together during National Park Week, we kept coming back to last year’s “Camp NPCA” theme. Summer camp evokes feelings of exploration, creating lasting memories and learning new things. In the spirit of finding inspiration from our parks, we decided to bring Camp NPCA back this year — with some new twists.

We encourage park lovers of all ages to follow along throughout the week, completing “camp activities” in our virtual camp-themed obstacle course. Each obstacle represents an action you can take from the comfort of your own home to get involved and build a deeper connection with our national parks.

We’ve also rounded up some park experts to be our “camp counselors,” sharing their stories and experiences on social media throughout the week.

While there’s no pressure to complete every obstacle, a FREE NPCA membership awaits the first 50 “campers” who finish the course! NPCA membership includes a one-year subscription to our award-winning National Parks quarterly magazine, a 20% discount on Travelodge® by Wyndham stays and more. Plus, for a limited time, get 10% off all purchases from NPCA’s store with promo code PARKWEEK10.

We love national parks here at NPCA and if you’re reading this, you probably do too. Let’s come together and meet up by the campfire.
