David Hackett is a Partner with Baker & McKenzie, LLP in Chicago. At Baker, he has served on the Firm’s Global Management Committee, as well as North American Managing Partner and Chicago Office Managing Partner. His practice concentrates on the representation of multinationals in U.S. and international compliance, CSR and environmental matters.
He has litigated a number of major U.S. civil and criminal environmental cases and assisted clients with compliance and environmental issues in over 50 countries.
Prior to joining Baker & McKenzie, he was a trial attorney with the United States Department of Justice Environmental Enforcement Section from 1985-1989, where he received the Special Achievement Award. He is a past chairman of the International Environmental Committee of the ABA Section on Natural Resources, Energy and Environmental Law.
He currently serves on the boards of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra; the Chicago Academy of Sciences and Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum; the Cook County Sustainability Advisory Council; and the Chicago Civic Consulting Alliance. He also serves on the Environmental Law Institute Council of Partners and the World Resources Institute’s Corporate Consultative Board. He is a graduate of Haverford College (B.A., 1976) and the University of Pennsylvania (J.D., 1981).
