We decided to have a picnic at the peaceful and quiet trail-head for Cascade Lake just above Canyon Village. We no sooner started to eat our breakfast of pancakes and coffee when another family drove up to give us a friendly wave. Then several more cars pulled up followed by a tour bus full of people who poured out. We all wondered what is going on here! And then it occurred to us to look out at a nearby meadow where there stood a giant bull moose along with cows and calves. Yes, Yellowstone Park is a place full of surprises whether it be a flock of moose or elk or bison or even a field of bright red Indian Paintbrush flowers.
Sincerely,
Yellowstone National Park
America's first national park is named after the river that runs through it. Within the park's massive boundaries, visitors can find mountains, rivers, lakes, waterfalls and some of the most concentrated geothermal activity in the world. The park has 60% of the world’s geysers, as well as hot springs and mud pots. It is also home to diverse wildlife with the largest concentration of mammals in the Lower 48 states, including grizzly bears, wolves, bison and elk.
