In 2012 my wife and I went on a vacation by car from Illinois to Montana , to go to Glacier National Park. We made sure to have reservations for the red bus tour while there. We stayed at the magnificent East Glacier Lodge. We ate in the restaurant and tried for the first time huckleberry desserts and jelly. The next day was our red bus tour and we were both very excited, with the possibility of seeing some grizzly bears at a distance. The tour was fantastic with views of nature at its best. The views on the tour , which was called, “Road to the Sun” , were majestic with the waterfalls down the mountain side. When we were finally up high enough to see the glaciers it was such a spectacular moment. At the summit we were allowed to go to a souvenir shop and take a bathroom break. So I headed to the bathroom and my wife who was watching me saw everyone come running out when I was in, she thought Michael did it again. Unfortunately, I had to come running out too in order to keep breathing. Apparently someone accidentally sprayed some bear spray in the bathroom. It was definitely a moment I will never forget. It literally took my breath away. The rest of the tour was awesome and we were able to stop by the lake and our red bus driver helped us and took a picture of us together. It is truly a beautiful park and a vacation we will always remember. We hope to go there again, but next time by train.
Sincerely,
Glacier National Park
