Greetings from Buffalo National River

For many years now, we have traveled the backroads of Arkansas, just south of Harrison, to a place called Erbie….

Two adults, two dogs, two horses in a fair size rig with an LQ. We cherish every moment we’ve shared in the primitive horsecamp there…. riding some of the most beautiful trails in the USA by day, cooking over an open fire by night.

Our trusty steeds have carried us to places only seen on horseback, seeming to go back in time. To study the old homesteads and cemeteries… the wildlife, the bench trails that drop to clear water holes and catches of water you can swim in… with, or without your horses. We are careful not to deface, trash, or ruin this wonderful piece of nature.. hoping others will respect it also.

I wish this same feeling of peace and tranquility to others who find themselves here, in this wonderland, forever.

PS: photo was too large to post- so sorry…

Sincerely,
Calamityj

Buffalo National River

The Buffalo is America's first national river and one of the last undammed rivers in the contiguous United States. Its 135 miles flow freely through beautiful Ozark forests and bluffs of limestone and sandstone, offering challenging whitewater conditions in the upper section and calmer Class I rapids in the middle and lower sections. There are not many roads or established overlooks in the park; the best way to experience the beauty of the water is to be out on it, navigating the cliffs, springs, waterfalls and multicolored rock. Just be alert and prepared for fast-changing conditions.

“These parks belong to us all... we should all enjoy them to the fullest, but leave them pristine. Pack out what you pack in. The moments spent here will be indelibly printed on our minds and hearts....They are the most serene and beautiful places in this great country.”
