Since I was 8, my family and I bounced from city to city. We even moved across the Pacific Ocean from the metropolitan Hong Kong to the cultural San Francisco. My youth was a complete whirlwind. Our first move marked the beginning of my restless mind. I never trusted a place long enough to call it home. Instead, I occupied the emptiness by keeping myself busy. From sports to instruments, I’ve never had a moment to look around and appreciate the beauty of our world. However, Glacier National Park uncovered my blind perception of nature. Standing on a piece of fallen log adrift in the middle of Lake McDonald, my mind finally felt at peace. From the jewel-blue water to the sweet aroma of the lilies, the dream-like landscape enthralled me. My racing heartbeats slowed as I breathed in the crisp air of the sunken valley. Beyond the lake, the snow-covered mountain tops painted a perfect gradience with the viridescent hills. It was a paradise, an escape from our materialistic society. Amid the chaotic life I’ve warranted myself to lead for many years, Glacier National Park gave me solace.
Sincerely,
Glacier National Park
