I am vacationing right now in Acadia National Park. I have never been to Maine and I am enjoying the spectacular scenery this park has to offer. Yesterday I drove to the top of Cadillac mountain and had a 360 vista of the ocean and Bar Harbor. The day before that I found a quiet trail to Ship Harbor and explored a more intimate side of the park. Incredible! I have been to many of the National Parks and each time I visit a new one, I am reminded of what a spectacularly beautiful and magnificent country we live in, and why these Parks are our National Parks. They are the best of what this country has to offer. They allow us precious moments of peace and reconnection with nature, undeveloped spaces that hopefully will be protected for generations to come. When I consider the government cutting funding, it makes me so sad. The parks deserve and need our financial support, so that they can continue to preserve and protect these gems.
Sincerely,
Acadia National Park
Along the rugged coastline of Maine, this gem of the Northeast offers ocean shoreline, coastal forests, remote islands, rocky mountains and historic lighthouses. With 45 miles of historic carriage roads to bike and 125 miles of trails to hike, Acadia is a premier destination for the adventurous and outdoorsy. Among the park’s granite peaks is Cadillac Mountain, which at 1,530 feet stands as the tallest mountain on the Atlantic coast.
