Last year I took my daughters, nine and seven, to Summerland in Mount Rainier National Park. Since they were four, we’ve done one or two night backpacking trips that were great fun, but not to the locations I would have chosen if I were with adults. However, on this trip they showed they were capable of hiking and climbing at a level that opens the door to a future of amazing trips that will push us physically and reward us spiritually.
I’m so excited to be able to share the wealth of our national parks with my family.
Sincerely,
Mount Rainier National Park
Majestic Mount Rainier is the highest peak in the Cascade Range and an active volcano with more glaciers than any other mountain in the United States. Just an hour's drive from Seattle, the park's wild landscape feels much further from civilization. The forests, parkland, wetlands, lakes and rivers offer 260 miles of trails and varied habitat to dozens of plant and animal species.
