When I was a kid my dad and mom would pile us in the station wagon in Wisconsin every summer and we’d barrel west to the National Parks that we’d dreamed about all winter: Bryce, Zion, Grand Canyon, Arches, Dinosaur National Monument, the Bad Lands, Mt Rushmore, Yellowstone, Glacier, Rocky Mt. National Park, Monument Valley, Carlsbad, Crater Lake, The Tetons. It left us with a taste for more - we’ve camped in every state and driven to Alaska twice from Louisiana with our own kids. At Arches my dad took us on foot in the broiling sun all the way to Delicate Arch and discovered he had no film. No matter, we’ll never forget it anyway.
Sincerely,
Arches National Park
With more than 2,000 natural stone arches, this landmark park offers more of these distinctive rock formations than anywhere else in the world. Wind and water, extreme temperatures, and a shifting underground salt bed sculpted the red rock over time into the area's spectacular and often delicate shapes. These arches can be large and impressive like the famous Delicate Arch, or just slivers in the sandstone.
