Greetings from Appalachian National Scenic Trail

I’ve been on the Appalachian Trail on two occasions in my lifetime. It was beautiful and I really didn’t want to leave it. However, now that we have the administration in power that we do, and they are suggesting major cuts in funding, PLUS giving out a good portion of our National Parks for oil and gas drilling and coal mining … knowing how many of those parks would lose their trees and greenery … and knowing what those types of industries do to destroy the land on which they work … I felt it was my responsibility to become a NPCA member to help, in my small way, to help fund these parks and help fight what the government is attempting to do. After watching what our Native Americans went through with that horrible pipeline which comes in from Canada, and seeing how no one seems to honor their traditions and beliefs, I felt it my duty as a 71 year old citizen of this country, born and raised, to help protect those creatures whose habitats will be irreparably damage in the government’s push to harvest more oil, more natural gas, and more coal from our earth, instead of using the new technologies of wind and solar power in place of these archaic fuels. As long as I am physically and financially able to stay in the fight, I will be a part of this protection of our National Parks … though it may never be much that I can send … I will be there.

Sincerely,
Pamela
