Parks have the power to represent a full and inclusive history of America, teaching us to reflect, persevere and heal.

Amache Preserved as Part of the National Park System
NPCA helped advocate for a national park site preserving the story of Amache, where thousands of people of Japanese descent were unconstitutionally incarcerated.
See more ›This is why NPCA is working to preserve and honor a time in history that has largely been forgotten: the wrongful imprisonment of Japanese Americans during WWII at the Amache incarceration camp in Southeast Colorado. Amache has direct ties to California – most of the people at Amache were originally from California and were forced to leave their homes. Today, many of its survivors and descendants live in our state.
Beginning March 15, the National Park Service will host public meetings throughout the state to discuss the Amache Special Resource Study, which would determine if the site meets the criteria to become a new unit of the National Park Service.
Please consider joining one of these meetings to voice your support for preserving and honoring Amache as a national park site.
