The Chesapeake Bay is steeped in history and culture. Indigenous Communities have called the region home for thousands of years and watermen still make their living on the fish, oysters, and crabs that live in the Bay’s waters. From amazing seafood, incredible fishing, and scenic paddles, we all love what the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries have to offer.
There are many National Park units throughout the Chesapeake Bay region, but none are dedicated solely to telling the powerful and unique story of the Bay. It is past time for a park dedicated solely to telling the story of the Chesapeake Bay watershed through the lens of the National Park Service.
Urge your member of Congress to co-sponsor a bill to establish the Chesapeake National Recreation Area. It would increase public access while boosting national and international support for the protection and restoration of the Chesapeake Bay watershed.
